Sandra Maytham-Bailey is a photographer and sculptor. Her interest in the art of photography and fascination with light led her to explore the realm of sculpture. Sandra holds a degree in Journalism from Rhodes University, where she also developed her skills in photography. Later, she received a master's degree in Documentary Art from the University of Cape Town. Before moving to Johannesburg in 2016, Sandra served as the director of the Cape Town School of Photography. In 2017, she pursued a postgraduate course in Visual Anthropology at WITS University.
Sandra's first photographic exhibition, titled "Mundane Moments," delved into the private world of her teenage sons as they transitioned into adulthood. She also created a book called "One Lens Three Views," which presented the Zulu Maiden Reed Dance from three journalistic perspectives that questioned controversies, neutrality, and biases. Additionally, Sandra produced a short film called "Running with a Vision," based on the story of a blind extreme athlete's successful Iron Man achievement. More recently, she has successfully exhibited a series of plaster of Paris dancing forms at Clarens At Fair, SculptX, and wood sculptures at the TAF art fair.
